On October 30, Prince Andrew—now known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor—was stripped of all royal titles and privileges. He was also forced to move from his 30-room mansion, Royal Lodge, where he has resided for 22 years. In a fresh blow, Andrew will likely not receive the payout he expected for vacating the property early before his lease ran out in 2078. According to new reports, in addition to leaving his 30-room mansion, Royal Lodge—where he has lived since 2003—the ex-Prince Andrew will likely not receive his payout for moving out of the property early. Andrew had what was considered to be a “cast iron” lease on the property extending until 2078. Reports suggested that Andrew—who is to be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor henceforth, after his royal titles were stripped on October 30—was set to receive a nearly $728,000 payout as part of a past agreement regarding his living situation, but The Daily Mail reported that he will be “denied” most of the payout because there is “a lot of work” that has yet to be done on the property.
Getty The Crown Estate will ultimately make the final decision regarding Andrew’s payout after any work done to the property is assessed, Us Weekly reported. Andrew has been living rent-free in Royal Lodge for the past 22 years, and his lease agreement stated that he could potentially receive a large sum of money if he left before the lease ended. Andrew is moving from the Windsor estate to the Sandringham estate, where he will live on one of the properties there. “These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” a statement from Buckingham Palace last Thursday read.

Getty Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson had lived with him at Royal Lodge since 2008; she is not expected to accompany him to Sandringham and is thought to be finding her own place and “will move on with her life,” The Daily Mail reported. It is expected to take weeks for the former couple to actually leave Royal Lodge for good, with the outlet reporting that their move might not take place until early 2026. (责任编辑:) |
