“They are very much a couple and have been seeing each other as often as possible,” a Canadian political source tells PEOPLE exclusively

There's nothing "Hot N Cold" about Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau's romance.

Days after the pop star, 41, and former Canadian prime minister stepped out holding hands in Paris, a source confirms the pair are indeed an official item.

“This relationship is already fairly serious and definitely moving in that direction,” a Canadian political source tells PEOPLE.

The budding romance first sparked amid Perry's ongoing Lifetimes World Tour, which Perry will be performing through December.

Adds the source: “They are very much a couple and have been seeing each other as often as possible."

Reps for Perry and Trudeau did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

In July, Perry and Trudeau sparked romance rumors after they grabbed dinner together in Montreal. Then, earlier in October, the couple was seen kissing on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara.

Trudeau celebrated Perry's birthday with her in Paris on Oct. 25. At the time, the couple were photographed holding hands and smiling as they stepped out to attend a cabaret show at the Crazy Horse Paris.

On Monday, Oct. 27, a Perry source told PEOPLE that while the "Teenage Dream" hitmaker has been focused on her tour, Trudeau "has made a real effort to meet her where she is — literally."

The Perry source also said that Perry has been "flattered" by Trudeau's efforts and is "in a great place," adding: "He's shown that he's committed and really cares about spending time with her. It's clear that he values the connection, and so does Katy."

At the time, the Perry source added that "dating Justin is something she never saw coming, but she's really enjoying this surprising life twist."

A second source close to Perry noted on Oct. 27 that the pair "make time for each other and have a really strong connection" despite their "busy schedules."

"Katy didn’t expect to fall for somebody so soon, but Justin checks all the boxes. He has a great sense of humor, he’s charming and treats her with respect," the second source added.

Perry's relationship with the former Canadian prime minister follows her split from ex-fiancé, Orlando Bloom. In June, PEOPLE confirmed that Perry and Bloom — who share daughter Daisy, 5 — had called off their engagement after their nine-year, on-off relationship.

Trudeau, meanwhile, separated from his wife, Sophie Grégoire, in 2023 after 18 years of marriage; the pair have three children together.
