Cardwell scored the game-winner on a snap shot off a cross-ice pass from Nico Sturm. Gushchin had five assists, and Ty Dellandrea had two assists for San Jose (2-3-1). Mackenzie Blackwood made 31 saves. Pavel Dorofeyev had three goals and an assist, and Alexander Holtz had a goal and an assist for Vegas (3-3-0). Tomas Hertl had three assists, Brayden McNabb had two assists, and Adin Hill allowed six goals on 29 shots. Dorofeyev gave Vegas a 1-0 lead at 4:19 of the first period, diving to the net for a pass from Alex Pietrangelo and going backhand through the five-hole. Jimmy Schuldt scored from the point to tie the game at 8:01, and Klim Kostin put San Jose up 2-1 at 9:03. Mario Ferraro tied the game 33 seconds into the third period with a snap shot from the slot. Mark Stone gave the Golden Knights a 4-3 lead at 3:28, redirecting Shea Theodore's shot from the point on the power play. Dorofeyev pushed the lead to 5-3 with a one-timer on the rush off a cross-ice pass from Hertl at 8:46. It was the preseason finale for both teams.
